| SS-303 |
Free Machining for use in automatic Machining Operations. High corrosion resistant. |
| SS-304 |
The most widely used of the stainless steel. Offers good corrosion resistance too many environments. Has good and can be readily welded. An Ideal combination of economy and corrosion resistance. Universally Accepted food grade. |
| SS-309 |
Used in high temperature applications. High scale resistance. Corrosion resistance superior to 304. Resists corrosion when welded. |
| SS-316 |
Better corrosion resistance as well as higher strength at elevated temperatures than 304. Often used for pumps, valves, chemical equipment and marine related applications. Most popular of stainless steel and food grade. |
| SS-409 |
Lowest cost stainless - used extensively in automotive exhaust systems. Excellent formability and weld ability. Because of its economy and good resistance to oxidation and corrosion, this stainless offer many opportunities for a wide range of parts. |
| SS-410 |
Heat-treatable stainless used widely where corrosion is not severe-air, fresh water, some chemicals and food acids. |
| SS-416 |
Free Machining Variation of 410 with useful corrosion resistance to natural food acids, basic salts, water and atmospheres. |
| SSLN4 |
Cheap Substitute of 304, lesser in corrosion resistance. One should be selective in using the grade for the ideal application. Favored for its lower cost. |
| SSLN-1 |
Cheap substitute for SSLN4, further lesser corrosion resistance, more brittle. Every manufacture uses there on nomenclature for this grade like J1, US 1 etc. Not suitable for damp applications. |
